Located on the beautiful grounds of Camp
Norwich, just twenty minutes from Northampton, our
convenient theme-based day camp program runs for two weeks + two days - from
the time most traditional summer camps end until the school year begins! Contact

Boot Camp Class Lynne Zusi will be taking over the 6PM Boot
Camp class on Tuesday & Thursdays starting August 18th. More>>

The large pool will be closed for maintenance on Sunday,
August 23rd and re-opening on Tuesday, September 8th. The small pool will be

Y Art Exhibit Nancy Kalin - Oil and Pastels In addition to
painting, Nancy
is an avid quilter, amateur pianist, an active member of the Embroiderers
League of America - and belonged to the Ceramic League of Miami for 10 years!

Help us kick off another great fall season at the
Y! Take sample classes, watch live demos, have great food, listen to live
music, play cool games, and play on the FUN Bouncers! More information will

Monthly Seminars The Y will be offering monthly seminars
starting in October on a variety of compelling topics ranging from parenting
issues to proper nutrition. Stay tuned for date and time information in the

Fitness fun for kids this fall!
|
New! Parent and Child Rookies Soccer Starting Monday,
September 14th (Age 3) Have fun and help teach your child the basics of the
sport. Beginning the basics together has never been better!
New! Gym-n-Swim Starting Friday, September 11th (Ages 3-5)
Preschoolers take a 25-minute gymnastics lesson, and then it's off to the small
pool for a 25-minute swim lesson. This class teaches children safety and
basic techniques, laying the foundation for more to come in the gym and in the
water.
Back by popular demand! Introduction to Sports Starting
Monday, September 14th (Ages 4-6) This beginner level program is perfect for
your young child who is just discovering sports. We will teach your child the
basics of sports such as boundaries, coordination, and how to play on a team.
This is done using fun games that grab the child's attention and keeps them
interested.
This fall! Rookies Soccer Starting Wednesday, September 9th (Ages
4-7) This program is designed to teach your child the basics. Skills are taught
through fun age-appropriate games that show your child the fundamentals of
soccer. Your child will learn a new sport in a fun, nurturing environment.
New Instructor! Youth Hip Hop Starting Tuesday, September 8th
(Ages 6 -15) now taught by Amy Kotel - Hip Hop is an exciting dance style with
roots in Jazz and street style dance. Become a part of a dance phenomenon!
Amy Kotel - Amy has been studying dance since 1991 and
teaching since the mid-1990's. She has danced locally with Hawley Martin Dance
Company, The Dance Generators, and Fem Fantastique. She has taught all ages and
in many different locations. She is currently working on her masters toward
Elementary Education at Lesley
University. She creates a
learning environment that gives new dancers the ability to feel comfortable and
safe; to take a risk and learn. Come do something that's really fun while
learning something new.

More Youth and Family Programs beginning September 8th!

Intro to Karate Mondays 4:15PM (45 min. Ages 6-12 years) in
Studio 1 Taught by Black Belt Instructor Anna Maria Now starting at age 6+ years
(accompanied by a parent), this introductory class teaches the basics of Karate
in a fun and energizing environment. 12 year old members do not need to be
accompanied by a parent.
Teen Cycle Thursdays 4:15PM (45 min. Ages 12-18 years) Taught
by Certified Instructor Alicia Come dressed to exercise with a bottle of
water! This fun beginner class is designed for new cyclists and those who would
like to know more about the cycling classes here at the Y. Geared towards teens
(but parents are certainly welcome) this class teaches:

Proper bike set-up (you will leave with a record of your
settings)

Proper bike form and safety
-
How to get the best workout (cardiovascular, strength and
endurance)
Family Yoga Wednesdays at 4:30PM (30 min) Studio 2. Taught
by Alicia
Originating in India
several thousand years ago, Yoga has become one of the most popular forms of
exercise in the West. It is an ancient system of breathing practices, physical
exercises, postures, and meditation intended to integrate the practitioner's
body, mind, and spirit - perfect for people of all ages. Our Family Yoga class
encourages the integration of good yoga practice for our youngest members and
their families, with the hope that good health choices will become a life-long
goal.
Wellness for Teens and Parents Sundays 3:00-5:00PM (Ages
12-15 accompanied by a parent). A fun introduction to the Wellness
area for parents and kids, this program gives you the information you need to
use our state-of-the-art exercise equipment safely. An initial Wellness
Consultation is required to participate. Come work out together! Make an appointment
with our friendly and knowledgeable staff today!

Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Season begins September 14th.
If you are interested in joining the team or are a returning swimmer, you will
need to attend one of the Parent Information meetings on the following dates.
Registration packets will be handed out at these meetings:

Gymnastics Team News
|
Gymnastics Team Training Camp Geared towards the experienced
gymnast who wants to walk away with increased strength, flexibility and more
skills, Gymnastics Team Training Camp is a great way to get in shape for the
upcoming fall season - and it's FUN! Open to both present and prospective team
members. August 3-7 and August 10-14 from 9:00AM-4:00PM.
New! Beginner Level Gymnastics Team Trials for Children 5-8 years
old! Open to kids with minimal gymnastics experience, this brand
new beginner level is a great way to introduce more kids to the exciting world
of team gymnastics! Young gymnasts learn compulsory routines on all four
Olympic events; beam, bars, vault, and floor while gaining confidence, improving
their skills, and having lots of fun! All interested participants must attend
team trials on Thursday, September 10th at 5PM.
Intermediate and Advanced Level Gymnastics Team Trials will also
be held Thursday, September 10th @ 5:00PM in the gym. Try a team practice for
free and decide if it's for you! This team trial practice is required for all
interested gymnasts (ages 6+ with prior experience) who are thinking about joining

The Garden: A center for grieving children and teens
|
The Garden opens Sunday, October 25th for any grieving
family with a child/children ages 5 to 18 years of age. The Garden meets every
other Sunday afternoon through May 2010. Call today with any questions, or to
set up an intake appointment with Shelly Bathe Lenn 584 7086 ext 124.
The Garden seeks dedicated and creative volunteer
facilitators to work directly with participants. Facilitators are needed for
9-hours each month from October through May 2010. The Garden provides training
and ongoing support. A 15-hour required training will be held October 15, 17 and 18th. Go
